• Experience the essence of France •

If you like the best of everything, youll find great joy and delight in France, from the cult status of food and wine to the deep-rooted, regional and local culture and customs that hallmark a country that has much to offer, and knows it. This app takes an overview, and identifies the best of France: its regions, its departments and its wonderful cities, towns and villages, so you dont have to. Having this app in your pocket will save you time and money, letting you head straight for the hotspots...and some hidden spots, too.

Every one of the countrys regions has a character that is almost tangible, fiercely and proudly defended, whether you visit the mountains of the Pyrenees, the Alps or the Central Massif and the Auvergne, or delight in the valleys of the Loire, the Lot, the Dordogne, your eyes will ache with the unrelenting assault of beauty in many guises.

From great works of architecture to an artistic and cultural heritage that is second to none, France is bountiful, beautiful and occasionally brash, but always a synergy of harmonious relationships, whatever the time of year.

• About the Author •

Terry Marsh is a freelance writer and photographer (travel and outdoors), specialising in the UK, Ireland and France. He first visited France in 1974, and has been returning every year since, both to work on books and to write for magazines. His knowledge of greater France is now so comprehensive that even French people ask him where they should go on holiday! He has visited every French département, and therefore every région, and basically invents the most trivial excuses as reasons for going back, such as the need to buy some more Provencal herbs, or beans with which to make Cassoulet, or some extra special olive oil from Grasse, or...well, you get the message.

Having written guidebooks for walkers to the Pyrenees and the Alps, for some years Terry has been the revision author for Michelin Green Guides to a number of regions of France, and, most recently to the whole of France. He has been a regular contributor to magazines about France, and his feature on Aube-en-Champagne, published in Living France magazine earned him the approval of French champagne makers.
